User experience goes well beyond the design of a single component, application, or website. Products need good design based on modern standards, but organizations also need to consider the end to end user journey. That means all levels of leadership need to coordinate on strategy and cohesive execution. Open communication between technology leaders, content managers, and marketing is especially important.

Web and App Design

Professionally, I have been embracing Progressive Web Apps (PWA's) as the most economical and feature rich way of getting applications into the hands of users. If you're unfamiliar with the technology, take a look here: https://web.dev/progressive-web-apps/. Basically, PWA's allow us to develop performant, app-like user experiences in web technologies. Instead of having to develop separately for mobile web, iOS, Android, and other OS types, you can create one unified experience and cut down on investment. I can't publicly share the designs I have created to be executed as responsive PWA's, but I can share portions if requested.

My design tool of choice is Figma. It is extremely easy to translate Figma designs into beautifully executed web apps.

T-Shirt Design

Check out this design I made for my 5 year old son's custom Halloween costume (Super Julian). While it isn't my strongest suit, I enjoy graphic design. Professionally, I am hands on with design and user experience. Personally, I enjoy creating t-shirt designs and getting out of my comfort zone with logo design and learning about 3d modeling.

At the very least, appreciating good design allows technical leaders to implement best practices.
