Image Generation AI
There are a number of publicly available image generation artificial intelligence systems. A user simply enters a text prompt and an AI model uses that prompt to create images. DALL·E 2 works in a browser, Midjourney works through Discord, and Stable Diffusion can run on a powerful local machine. DALL·E 2 also has a service that takes an original image and seamlessly expands on it based on a text prompt. I have had the opportunity to use all three of these models, and I want to share some interesting examples.
Gaming Chair Design
I asked Midjourney AI to create concepts for a few gaming chairs for my new office. The outputs aren't perfectly symmetrical designs, but they are beautiful, creative concepts.
My favorite attempt was created using the prompt "eames lounge chair inspired gaming chair." A few of the outputs were absolutely stunning, and I wish I could have them built. The first two examples below are my favorite designs. They were accomplished by taking an initial, low definition output and upgrading it to a higher definition with more details. The second two examples are a few initial results that were presented.
Another example was created using the prompt "mid century modern gaming chair." The first two examples below are my favorite designs. The second two examples are initial results that I didn't like quite as much.

I took some spectacular art that was painted by Midjourney then fed it into DALL·E 2's outpainting engine.

Many of these prompts were borrowed from other people creating AI images in the Midjourney Discord server. You'll notice in the examples below that different keywords, different levels of detail, and different models yield very different results. The same prompt also never ends with the same output.
